TWENTY TWO

"The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us." John 1:14

I was walking the back roads of the charming Cotswolds' in England when I caught the gaze of a small lamb. It was the morning and my last chance to walk the countryside before I boarded a plane and sped home to California. The young spring lamb stood still while gently wagging its tail. He looked at me and I looked at him. The number 22 was brightly painted on its side. I stared trying to understand why God was having me connect with this small sheep with the number 22. What are you trying to tell me Lord? I snapped the picture and walked away after a few minutes tucking the incident away in my heart. I prayed that the Lord would bring me the revelation. I soon found out that it was a serendipitous experience.

Upon arriving in the United States I caught up with a friend and mentor, who happens to be a messianic Rabbi. I asked him about the number 22 and told him about my encounter with lamb.  The number 11 is the number for transition according to Jewish tradition. The number 22 would be 11 X 2. Coincidently, I happened to be in the biggest transition of my life! I also learned that the Hebrew alphabet has 22 letters. It is the number of generations from Adam to Jacob, the number of works of creation, and the number of books in the Jewish canon of the Bible.

Jesus is the Word. He is the lamb of God. The Word of God was originally written in 22 Hebrew letters. I believe with my whole heart that the Lord was showing me that I see you, I am with you, and I am here for you during this transition. Praise God for the wonderful ways that He can speak to us through His creation if we will be still...and "have eyes to see and ears to hear."
